Bird watching

The Iberian Peninsula, a paradise for bird watching

Due to the large range in altitude and latitude, different climatic conditions make it possible to enjoy the flight of all sorts of birds every day. Alpine birds can be observed in the early mornings and cryptic steppe birds in the evenings.

Furthermore, Spain is centred between the breeding and wintering areas of many birds, serving as important stops on their migratory routes. Millions of birds pass Spain twice a year in their movement between Northern Europe and African winter quarters.

Especially striking is the migration of birds across the Strait of Gibraltar, where raptors and flocks of storks settle in their hundreds or even thousands. Also the Pyrenees, the Peninsula wetlands and the Mediterranean coast are a popular refugees for migratory birds.

Our guides and their knowledge of the distribution of birds among different habitats and seasons, will make observations of even the scarcest and most elusive birds possible. We will always try to observe birds in their natural surroundings without disturbing them in their behaviour. Our tours give the possibility to spot different birds all year round, and it will be attempted to spot them well enough to see their distinct morphological characteristics and colorations. The open Spanish surroundings also make behavioural observations very plausible.

So come and join us to explore the Iberian avifauna, you won’t be disappointed.
